Sharing A Network Printer

1. Click on “Start” and then click “Printers and faxes”. Right click on the printer you would like to share and click Sharing.
2. Click on the “Network Setup Wizard” link, click “Next”, then “Next” again.
3. Select “This computer connects to the internet through another computer on my network or through a residual gateway.”
4. Type in the “Computer Description”(optional).
5. Type in the “Workgroup Name”. Then click “Next”.
6. Select “Just finish the wizard; I don’t need to run the wizard on other computers.” and click “Next”.
7. Click “Finish”.
8. Back at the Sharing tab in the Printer Properties(this window should still be open), select “Share this printer.” Type in the “Share name” (name of printer) and reply “Ok” when it asks “Are you sure you want to use this share name?”
9. Click “Ok”.
10. Go to the computer/s that you would like to share this printer with. Click “Start”, click “Printers and Faxes”, click “Add a printer”.
11. Click “Next”, select “A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer.” Click “Next”.
12. Select “Connect to this printer”. Type in the path of the printer at the “Name” text box. The syntax should be \\computer name\printer name, for example \\COMPUTER1\HP LaserJet 6P.
13. Select whether or not you want to use this printer as a default printer. Click “Next”, then click “Finish”.
